Mare Reads: The Lucky One

As usual, I promise there will be no spoilers in this review:)
I just finished The Lucky One by Nicolas Sparks.  The summertime is perfect for reads like this.  It's an easy beach read as Sparks is known for.  This story centres around an ex-Marine who finds a photo of a woman during combat.  It becomes a bit of a lucky charm for him afterward, as he's able to escape injury and harm when carrying said picture.  After being discharged, he is pushed to find the woman in the photo.  He finds her in a small town, starts to work for her grandmother and well, as you can probably guess, a romance blossoms.  The woman has a son with a crazy ex-husband who has it out for  the ex-Marine.  The main character is played by Zac Efron in the movie adaption as you can see from the book cover.  It wasn't so terrible to picture Efron while reading the book.  What? He's legal now;)
I've read a couple other books from the same author and like I said, I like them for an easy, beach read. The characters did have some traits that I didn't see coming and there were a few twists.  Also, the anticipation of what would happen when the woman finally found out about the picture, was exciting.  She isn't let in on the secret of him finding the picture until well into the book.
Overall, this read is exactly what you would expect and if you want a fun romance with a few twists, this would be a good one to pick up.
