I
have a friend who suffers from anxiety and I asked her what she does
when she has an anxiety or panic attack. This is her advice:
"Yoga breathing. Shut my door and take a few minutes to myself. Try to pinpoint if anything in particular has made me anxious and stare it down.
"Yoga breathing. Shut my door and take a few minutes to myself. Try to pinpoint if anything in particular has made me anxious and stare it down.
Recognize that
anxiety is based on opinion rather than fact.
If there is nothing in
particular that is making me anxious just to recognize that is my brain
doing it to me and that it is not something tangible that needs my worry
so I can give myself permission to try to calm down and realize that if
there is nothing making me feel that way then it will pass. It's a
process.
It's sometimes something trivial that sets it off that I don't
even realize it's happened. That's when I really start looking at my
thoughts. But sometimes it's nothing, just a vague sense of
unease/panic. Awful.
It will pass.
Letting go of control of it has
been helpful for me. My brain's chemicals are not something I can
control right now so I will just allow myself to feel it for a bit.
Sometimes fighting it ends up fueling it."

ReplyDeleteSuper suggestions. Just feeling the anxiety or panic feelings and breathing deeply trusting that they will pass is something I learned years ago. As pointed out above, they are thoughts which don't have to control us. xx
ReplyDeleteThis is not another thought, but rather at whatever point I am helped to remember it, the straightforward knowledge behind the slant never tumbles to make me feel great. I think we all have recollections from our past we wished we could free our selves until the end of time. http://www.mordocrosswords.com/2016/02/you-right-now-theme-wise.html
